Small Gift Bags

These cute bags were created from one piece of 12" x 12" paper!

Directions:

* Cut the 12" x 12" paper in half so you have two 6" x 12" pieces of paper.

* On the long side, score at 4", 5 1/2", 9 1/2", and 11".

* Turn and score at 1 1/2". The images on your paper will determine which way to turn the paper. This score creates the bottom of the bag so turn your paper accordingly.

* Remove the square that was created by the 11" score line and the 1 1/2" score line. I did not take a picture, but here is a quick sketch.

* Trim the score lines at the bottom up to the 1 1/2" score line. (see above)

* Use red line tape (sticky strip) and place a piece on the tab on the right and another piece on the back of the third tab on the bottom (see above).

* Burnish all score lines.

* Remove the backing from the sticky strip from the tab on the right. Fold your paper in half so the left inside matches up with the sticky striped side.

* Fold the short ends of the bottom inside the bag followed by a long side and then the sticky striped long side. Remove the backing and secure the bottom of the bag.

* Squeeze the sides of the bag to create seams on both sides.

* Use an oval punch to create the handles for the bag.

* Add ribbon and a tag ... You now have a gift bag ready for Christmas or any other occasion.

This pattern can be adjusted for any height needed for a bag. Use a 12" x 12" piece of paper and increase the bottom score line so you can fit larger items in the bag. Example: make the bottom score line at 4" and you have an 8" tall bag that is 4" wide - great size for a book, candles, note pad and pen, oh the possibilities are endless!

Have fun creating your own bags this holiday season!
