One Hour Basket

I found this pattern on Craftsy a month ago and pulled it out yesterday. It is quick to make and oh so versatile.

Boxy Bag/Pouch

I have always wanted to make a bag that looks like a shaving kit. Just one of those things that you could make for a male friend as a gift. I finally tried making one and it doesn't look too bad.

The original videos/blogs I referenced were to use a 12" zipper or larger. When I went to make mine, I only had a 9" zipper. I can definitely say I have made a bag, but I totally recommend a larger zipper. It was quite difficult getting the ends of this bag sewn with the 9" zipper.

Handle Bar Bag

I originally thought of my bicycle when I saw this pattern. I do not like to carry my phone in my pocket when I am riding - for fear it will fall out or I will fall and damage it. I saw this bag and knew I had to make it.

After making this bag (above), I thought about my daughter and her new bed. She now has a loft bed and I thought it would be nice for her to put items in the bag that she might need while on her bed, but not want to forget once she is out of bed (iPod, earbuds, etc). So instead of putting it on my bicycle, I put it on her bed. She saw it and asked if I could make more so she had several hanging from her bed.

This bag (above) is one I recently made so she now has two of them. I am still working on the "many more" she has requested. Since she has requested more, I did save the link for this bag. You can go here to find the instructions.

The picture below shows how they attached to the railing of her bed.

Reversible Purse

These purses are fun to make! They are completely reversible so you can change it whenever you feel like it.

Here are a couple I made with my daughter in mind...

Paper and Crayon Folder

When I saw this, I immediately thought of my mother. She always had crayons and paper in her purse when my daughter was little. It was always nice when we went out to eat and the food took a little bit longer than a little one's patience.

Small Book Bag

When I first saw this bag, I thought what a great bag this would be to carry my Bible and notebook to Bible class. I measured my Bible so I would make the right size. After I finished it and placed my Bible inside, it was too small at the bottom! :( I failed to take into account the area that would be removed to make the box-y bottom. Guess I will just have to try again!

I did save the link for this bag as I will have to remake it. You can find the link here.

Drawstring Purse

This drawstring bag was made from leftover material from making my sweet granddaughter a car seat cover. It is such cute fabric that I had to make it into a purse. Oh, and this drawstring purse has two pockets on the outside! :)

Coin Purse

This coin purse is made from an old measuring tape. So easy to make and you can make them any size you like. They can hold sunglasses, glasses, coins, a first aid kit ... and the list goes on.

Month of June

For the month of June, I will be sharing some sewing projects. I have named each project by the name given by the person(s) on Pinterest or YouTube. If you like a project, look up the name and you should find plenty of ideas.

For several of the projects, I combined ideas from multiple people. Sometimes a project is a little difficult to understand so I look for another one. I might like ideas from the first post/video so I incorporate all the ideas to create the project.

I hope you like the projects. I had fun making them.

Note Cards and Box

I saw this idea on YouTube and decided to make one to see how it would turn out.  I love this idea! Great for a gift for any reason.

This box holds 6 notecards from Stampin' Up! along with 6 envelopes.

The box is made with a piece of card stock measuring 9" x 9". Use the Envelope Punch Board and punch and score at 3" and 5". Turn the card stock to the left, line up the first scored line with the punch pointer, and punch and score. Repeat with the second scored line. Repeat these steps on the two remaining sides. Round all four points with the corner punch on the Envelope Punch Board.  Cut along the large triangles to create tabs. Use adhesive or glue to adhere two tabs to the inside at one of the large triangles. Place adhesive on the two small triangles (sides of box) where the large triangle fold over the tabs and sides - make sure to only put adhesive where the large triangle will touch.

The belly band is made from a piece of card stock measuring 1" x 12". Fold this around the box leaving a gap in the front. Use punches to create a cute flower on the front - this also serves as a cover to fill the gap in the belly band.

Fold the top flap (large triangle) under the belly band to close the box.

I made cards (2 of each design) with two different flower stamps and several sentiment stamps from Stampin' Up!.

Tag Topper Bag

Elaine at Papercraft Button shared this bag on February 28. She has such great ideas.

This bag is just the right size for some treats or jewelry or fingernail polish or makeup ... the ideas are endless.

Hope you have a great day!

Zoo Babies Train

Victoria Bunn showed her Zoo Babies Train on a FB group to which I belong. I thought it was really cute and saved the picture to try and make one on my own. Just last week, she shared how to make parts of the train - minus the engine. I thought I would try my hand at it - even though I do not need a baby gift at this time.

I added magnets to keep the train "together".

Movie Gift Card Holder

Isn't Pinterest a great place to get ideas!?! I found the picture for this gift card holder and thought it was such a neat idea.

I used a flower punch to make the popcorn. I used That's the Ticket stamp set along with the matching punch to make the two tickets. I used the scallop border punch to add the scallops to the top of the popcorn bag.

The only thing I measured was the gift card to make sure I had enough white CS to hold it and to ensure the bag was long enough. The rest, shall I say, I just wing'd it! I hope the recipient of this likes it as much as I do.

Have a great day!

Curved Side Box

This box was shared on a FB group to which I belong. The only measurements given were that the box was 8 cm all around. As I cannot wrap my head around centimeters, I forged ahead in inches to see if I could make this box.

The box turned out so cute!

Here are my directions:

CS 6" x 8 1/2"

  • Score on the long side at 2", 4", 6", and 8"
  • Score on the short side at 2" and 4"
  • Fold on all the score lines
  • On the long side, cut up on all the score lines to the intersecting score line - do this on both sides
  • Trim the first 2" section and the third 2" section in half to create the tabs needed for the box (see picture below)
  • Use a curved edge (I used a ribbon spool) to trace onto the second and fourth 2" sections - this will give you the sides of the box

  • Also trim the 1/2" section in half - I forgot to do this before taking the picture above
  • Place adhesive on the tab sections and create the box - the first and second 2" section will be the lid - below is the picture of what the box will look like once the tabs are in place

I hope you like this box. It was a fun one to make.

Have a great day!
